All Pearl Workshops in Christchurch
Spend three hours inside Mermade Pearl Studio and create a pearl design of your own.
Our Christchurch pearl workshops are intimate, hands-on design sessions centred around genuine cultured pearls. You’ll explore shape, scale, texture and composition before creating a finished piece that is entirely your own.
No previous experience is needed. We’ll guide you through the process while leaving plenty of room for individual choice and experimentation.

The All Pearl Experience
Our regular All Pearl Workshops are held on selected Tuesdays and Sundays at our Christchurch design studio.
With a maximum of six participants per session, each workshop offers an intimate, relaxed environment with individual guidance throughout the design and making process.
Rather than following a prescribed pattern, you'll be encouraged to develop your own design through an exploration of proportion, repetition, contrast and composition.
Explore our selection of pearls, experiment with different combinations and refine your ideas into a finished piece of jewellery, with guidance throughout the process.

Explore the Pearls
Pearls are at the centre of the experience.
Your workshop includes cultured freshwater baroque, seed and keshi pearls, 3–7mm in size — giving you everything you need to create a finished design within the base workshop fee.
You'll also have the option to explore Mermade's broader pearl selection, including saltwater, larger baroque and other premium pearls. These are available as additional material upgrades, so you can keep your design simple or take it in a more individual direction.
One finished piece per participant is included. If time allows, you're welcome — and encouraged — to continue creating additional pieces.
Explore coordinating earrings, necklaces and bracelets, experiment with complementary designs or create your own matching set. Any additional pearls, findings and materials can simply be selected and purchased during the session.
Because pearls are naturally individual, no two finished designs will be exactly alike.

Optional upgrades
Mermade's broader selection of larger baroque, keshi, saltwater and specialty pearls is available at an additional cost, depending on your design.
Gold-filled and sterling silver findings are also available as optional upgrades.
Additional pieces can be created during your session if time allows, with only the extra materials charged separately.
Pearl availability and selection may vary between workshops.
Bookings & Cancellations
Bookings for our scheduled All Pearl Workshops can be made online, with no deposit or upfront payment required to reserve your place.
As workshop spaces are limited, we kindly ask that you provide at least 48 hours' notice if you need to cancel or reschedule, allowing us to offer your place to another guest.
In the unlikely event that Mermade Pearl Studio needs to reschedule a workshop, all registered participants will be notified and offered an alternative date.

Mermade Pearl Studio offers private pearl workshops for groups of up to six guests at our Christchurch studio. Larger groups and alternative venues can also be accommodated by arrangement.
Each private experience can be tailored to suit your occasion, with bookings starting from NZ$495.
